WMCA
Giving growth a voice

The Challenge
The West Midlands Combined Authority had a bold economic vision and a Mayor with serious ambition for the region. What they needed was a visual identity strong enough to carry it, across print, digital, events and everything the Growth priority would eventually touch.

The Craft
Giving a £17 billion economic vision the identity it deserves is no small task. We got to work crafting a visual language for the Growth priority that could carry that ambition across every touchpoint it would ever need to live on, going through two creative directions before landing on a final identity that took the best of both and pushed it further. From there, the Growth Plan report was built to make policy feel like a page turner, with bold imagery and elevated data pulling readers through a vision for the West Midlands that was impossible to dismiss. There’s also now a dedicated, intuitive microsite that opened it all up to residents, investors and policymakers, and when the Wolverhampton launch arrived, the identity was ready to make the kind of entrance that gets people talking.

The Result
70 media mentions in the first two weeks, including BBC Midlands Today, across consumer, business and public sector media
120 media mentions and still growing
A Growth identity now adopted across WMCA’s wider communications
A high-profile Wolverhampton launch that put the West Midlands firmly on the map
