Penguin 4.0 is here
After two years Google has announced that it has updated its Penguin Algorithm. The new update will detect websites that spam, if you are penalised for this you don’t need to wait too long as the new Penguin 4.0 goes real-time. The algorithm is more granular it now devalues spam by adjusting ranking based on spam signals, rather than affecting ranking of the whole site. You can read Google’s full statement here.

Snapchat rebrands as Snap Inc.
Popular photo message app Snapchat distances itself from Snapchat and has rebranded itself to Snap Inc. The company, which has 100 million users, seems to be expanding its business with the launch of Snapchat Spectacles, which can record 30 second videos.
Google rolls out cross-device retargeting
Good news for people who advertise on Google Display network: as in the near future you will be able to reach the same users across devices, apps and sites.
Twitter character count
Great news if you like to Tweet media such as photos, GIFS, videos or polls, as they no longer count towards your 140-character count. Happy Tweeting!
Facebook at work
There are strong rumours that Facebook is launching its ‘At Work’ enterprise communications network within the next few weeks.  The platform, which is quite likely to be a paid service, will allow employees to communicate and engage on the social network. To be continued….
