Ready, Set GLOW! Glow in the Park 2017

By 16th October 2017News

Let me preface this post by saying I am NOT a runner. But recently, I’ve started shuffling a 1-mile route round my local park after work a couple of times a week, so when the opportunity to participate in the Birmingham stint of Glow in The Park this weekend came up, I thought I’d give it a go!
Based around Stoneleigh Park in Kenilworth, Glow in the Park saw over 2,000 enthusiastic participants don their best neon, head torches and headbands, to run, jog and walk the 5km route, with social media and PR support in the run-up to the event produced by OWB.
After a great DJ starter and dance warm-up, the crowd got going through a range of ‘obstacles’ including a laser rave, paint war and a foam pit – definitely not one to do in your best running gear! The crowd really got into it, with lots of selfies and laughter all the way round from a great range of people – adults, children and even some pooches.
We decided to run the entire route, and finished pretty respectably! Click the video below to see some pretty shaky footage of the obstacles – in my defence I was jogging at the time!
The event has hopefully raised a fantastic sum for Birmingham Children’s Hospital; an extremely worthwhile cause which was definitely great motivation for the crowd.
